St Marys Area, Jarrow - School Safety Improvements
Overview
South Tyneside Council's Traffic and Road Safety Team (STC) is seeking feedback from residents on a proposal to implement junction protection and crossing improvements around the St Marys area.
As part of STC's ongoing commitment to creating a safer environment for all highway users, the scheme has been drafted and allocated funding. This includes measures such as junction protection with yellow lines, school keep clears and dropped crossing points to enhance safety around schools.
The TRO Consultation drawing (TRS16- 01-1 GA) provides an overview of the proposed road safety scheme in the St Marys Area. It highlights the specific safety measures planned for the area, including junction protection and enhancements to assist routes to the nearby schools.
The team recognises that this may affect some residents more than others, particularly those living near the junctions. They encourage these residents to voice any concerns they may have during the consultation process. It should be noted that the team has made every effort to minimise issues when assessing each junction.
South Tyneside Council remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of all residents and road users.
The proposals can be seen below.
