Thank you for your recent feedback regarding the parking restrictions outside your home. We appreciate that this issue is important to each resident and that you have taken the time to express your views.

We proposed two options: Option 1- Removal of the double yellow lines in their entirety. Option 2- Partial removal of the double yellow lines.

There was no clear consensus among residents who responded. One resident highlighted difficulty accessing their driveway and would prefer the existing restrictions to remain. Two residents would support partial removal of restrictions but not as per option 2.

It is important to note that only one property has sufficient kerb space in front to accommodate a parked car, and we fear that removal of restrictions at this location may encourage parking on the footway which creates another set of issues.

Given the lack of agreement and the physical constraints of the street, we would like to propose a final option for consideration

Option 3 – partial removal of restrictions along the southern kerb line bordering Adair Way to install x2 unrestricted parking bays.

Overview

Recently our maintenance team refreshed the double yellow lines in Northbourne Road. This prompted residents to question their necessity, and a request was made to have them removed.

Our investigations show that the lines were installed many years ago to protect the entrance to a factory. That factory no longer exists so the request to remove the double yellow lines is valid.

The council must follow legislative guidance to install or remove parking restrictions and part of the procedure is to seek the views of residents.

We propose two options:

Option 1 - Removal of the double yellow lines in their entirety

Option 2 - Partial removal of the double yellow lines.
