The consultation exercise for Millfield Terrace is now closed.

The response rate was 23.8% with 60% of the responders in favour of our proposal and 40% against.

Therefore, we have made the decision to proceed with a formal consultation to extend the bus stop and introduce waiting restrictions at the junction with Wheatall Drive.

The formal consultation period is 21 days. Notices will be posted on-site, and an advertisement will be placed in the local newspaper. You may comment as you feel appropriate.

We thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Overview

South Tyneside Council's Parking Team (STC) have been alerted to vehicles persistently obstructing the bus stop situated in the northbound carriageway of A183-Millfield Terrace, Whitburn.

These types of obstructions can result in delays to service, missed passengers and increases the likelihood of collisions. We propose to extend the bus stop clearway by 13m in line with accessible bus stop design guidance. This will allow safe and convenient access and egress for the buses.

We also propose to install No waiting at Any Time Restrictions on the junction of Wheatall Drive and Millfield Terrace to maintain visibility and accessibility for all motorists.
