Laygate, South Shields - Proposed extension of parking restrictions

Overview

South Tyneside Council have been made aware of problems with vehicular movements surrounding the Laygate area, South Shields particularly within close proximity to the opposing junction of Rekendyke Lane. It has been raised that vehicles are parking along the stretch prior to the bus stop, this posing a road safety risk as it increases the likelihood of head on collisions with vehicles overtaking parked vehicles on the adjacent side of the road.

We propose to introduce the following parking restrictions, No Waiting and No Loading at Any Time (double yellow lines and double berb blips) to improve visibility and reduce the liklihood of head on collisions occuring around the areas shown in the attatched plan.
