Rear of Westoe Road & Derby Terrace, South Shields
Results updated 17 Oct 2024
The consultation is now closed. We had a good response rate with mixed opinions. Those against the proposal highlighted a lack of available parking in the area and feared the additional restrictions would be bad for business. Those in favour of the proposal had experienced problems accessing their off-street parking and complained that their waste bins were often not collected due to parked cars blocking access.
Therefore, we will be progressing this proposal to a formal consultation. You will soon see a legal notice posted on site and an advert will be published in the Shields Gazette. Instructions on how to respond will be included within the notice.
We thank you for your assistance on this matter.
Overview
South Tyneside Council have been alerted by residents, to continual obstruction of this rear lane, leaving them unable to access their garages and off-street parking areas.
We propose to introduce No Waiting at Any Time (double yellow lines). To ensure access is always available. Vehicles contravening the restrictions would be liable to be issued a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).
